Why are crowns needed?
Here are several reasons a crown may be needed:
- Broken or chipped tooth
- Discolored tooth
- Severely decayed tooth
- A tooth that already has a large filling and there is new decay or the filling is broken.
- A tooth that has had root canal therapy
- A tooth with a crack that is hurting when you chew food
- To restore shape and function
- To improve cosmetic appearance
- To prevent a weak tooth from breaking
Bridges are also done for all of the above reasons when there are missing teeth.
What are crowns and bridges made of?
Traditionally crowns and bridges have been made of metal, porcelain or a combination of the two. Advancing technology has allowed us at Spokane Family Dental to make most of our crowns and bridges out of extremely strong porcelain. This allows for maximum esthetics and very natural looking results. We use the two strongest porcelain materials available in dentistry based on extensive research- Zirconia and IPS e.max. With these two products we can deliver beautiful and strong restorations. We also offer same day porcelain crowns called CEREC crowns. CLICK HERE to learn more about these crowns.
If you are suffering from any of the above conditions with your teeth please contact Spokane Family Dental today so we can restore your smile!
Porcelain veneers, crowns, and bridges were used for this full mouth reconstruction to restore the beauty and function of our patients’ smile.
